The father of Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to Selena Gomez, claimed that the Latina singer's ongoing alcohol use led to the end of his daughter's friendship with Gomez.

In an appearance on the Spanish news program "Primer Impacto" about five months ago, Francia's father, El Cucuy, who is also a famous Spanish radio host, discussed the details of the two's falling out.

According to TMZ, El Cucuy cited love, money, and fame as factors that contributed to the deterioration of the two actresses' friendship and why his daughter was not in Selena's documentary, "Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me."

El Cucuy then added that Selena and Francia had a disagreement when the "Love You Like A Love Song" singer was drinking.

Francia allegedly told Selena that she did not give her a kidney, so she could go out and continue drinking, which can cause stress on the transplanted organ.

The pair had reportedly known each other since they were child actors and were very close to the point that Francia donated her kidney to Selena. However, things went the other way around.

Selena Gomez Fans Bullied Organ Donor Francia Raisa

The "How I Met Your Father" star recently opened up about being bullied after speaking out on her broken relationship with Selena Gomez, TMZ reported.

Francia Raisa told the outlet that she received hate messages following an interview where she avoided questions about her former friend but appeared to throw shade at the same time.

She said the situation got so bad that it has taken a significant toll on her mental health. She told TMZ that one of the most hurtful comments she got was, "I hope someone goes up your p***y and rips out your other kidney you f***ing whore."

The friendship between the two ex-childhood actors was initially reported to have ended after Selena revealed to an interviewer that Taylor Swift was the only person she was close to in Hollywood.

Francia was understandably hurt and eventually unfollowed Selena on Instagram. Francia was completely baffled that she was being bullied by Selena's fans, given that the Latina singer has been such a vocal opponent of bullying. She noted that all the online hate must stop now.

Selena Gomez Undergoes Kidney Transplant Operation Due to Lupus

Selena Gomez revealed her battle with lupus in 2015 and took a break from her career to deal with anxiety and depression stemming from her diagnosis. In 2017, she announced that she had a kidney transplant linked to her lupus.

Last February, Selena opened up about body changes due to her medication to treat lupus. BBC reported that the singer-actress said she had been subjected to nasty comments about her appearance.

Selena explained that she "holds a lot of water weight" when taking medications, which are important to her because it helps her, adding that she would "rather be healthy and take care" of herself.

Lupus is an incurable autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal tissue. Symptoms can be managed by taking medication.
