Search for Maine Mass Shooter Continues

Law enforcement agencies have undertaken a comprehensive search in the efforts to locate the Maine mass shooting suspect, Robert Card, an Army reservist.

Authorities have scoured expansive wooded areas, including hundreds of acres of family-owned property.

Dive teams equipped with sonar technology were deployed to explore the depths of a nearby river.

Additionally, they closely examined a possible suicide note discovered on Thursday at a residence linked to Card, which was addressed to his son.

Regrettably, the note did not provide any clear motive for the tragic events.

State Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck has refrained from speculating on Card's status, neither confirming if he is alive nor deceased, emphasizing that investigators are keeping all possibilities open.

Authorities have grappled with the complexity of their search due to the recovery of Card's cellphone at the residence.

This has posed a challenge as law enforcement typically relies on mobile devices to track suspects.

Federal agents have conducted thorough searches of properties connected to Card, collecting various items, including electronics.

Investigators are meticulously reviewing Card's financial records, examining his social media activity and written materials, and delving into his mental health history to gain a comprehensive understanding of his background and potential motivations.

Notably, these tragic events have contributed to the distressing statistic that marks the 36th mass killing in the United States this year, as reported by a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in collaboration with Northeastern University.

The intensity of the search for Card continues as the community grapples with the aftermath of this terrible incident.
