Donald Trump tried to upstage Nikki Haley in her own state as he showed up at the Clemson vs. University of South Carolina rivalry game. However, he was met with some loud boos instead. Videos showed Trump looking genuinely concerned as the boos were heard as he arrived at Clemson University, Nikki Haley's alma mater.

The match between Clemson and the University of South Carolina was known as the Palmetto Bowl. Trump tried to one-up election rival Nikki Haley by showing up at the game. While he was met with some cheers, it was the boos that got to him, as a photo of his face as he arrived showed him not looking happy.

According to The Independent, the pro-Trump crowd was still sizeable, but their cheers did not stop the boos from getting heard at the Palmetto Bowl game. There were still some chants of "We want Trump!" but they were soon drowned out by the jeers over at Nikki Haley's alma mater.

Trump attended the match as a guest of South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster along with South Carolina Senator and ally Lindsey Graham. He also went into the field during halftime but was met with even more loud booing. One band member was seen giving the former president a thumbs-down gesture while booing as well.

Despite Trump being booed every time he appeared during the game, this was not mentioned in his Truth Social posts, and only the cheers were mentioned in some far-right and pro-Trump outlets.

Donald Trump Previously Booed at Another Football Match in Iowa

A few months before Donald Trump was loudly booed at a South Carolina college football game, he also attended one in Iowa where he was also loudly booed, earning some mockery from his top Republican primary rival, Ron DeSantis.

According to USA Today, there were scattered boos and middle finger hand gestures directed towards the former president during the college football match between Iowa and Iowa State. A few days after the game, the pro-DeSantis political action committee, Never Back Down, released an attack ad that showed Trump being booed at Iowa State's stadium.

Trump's campaign team brushed it off and claimed that people were overwhelmingly cheering for the ex-POTUS despite some videos showing that the cheers failed to drown out the boos.

Donald Trump Slams Prominent Evangelical Leader For Endorsing Ron DeSantis and Not Him

Meanwhile, as DeSantis and Trump are still butting heads over in Iowa, the Florida governor received a massive boost thanks to an endorsement from influential Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats. However, Trump was not happy with this.

"Bob Vander Plaats, the former High School Accountant from Iowa, will do anything to win, something which he hasn't done in many years," the former president mockingly posted on Truth Social. "He's more known for scamming Candidates than he is for Victory, but now he's going around using Disinformation from the Champions of that Art, the Democrats."

Trump ranted about the evangelical leader in his post, according to The Hill. He also accused Vander Plaats of taking $95,000 from the DeSantis campaign for the endorsement. He joined Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds in supporting DeSantis over Trump, something that the former president has repeatedly attacked her for.
