Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green faced ejection from Tuesday night's game against the Phoenix Suns after receiving a flagrant foul 2 in the second half, according to ESPN.

The incident unfolded with 8:23 remaining in the third quarter when Green, defending against Phoenix's Jusuf Nurkic, swung and hit him in the head.

Initially, Green held Nurkic off while facing away, but he turned around and struck Nurkic in the head, prompting the referees to intervene.

Green's fate now awaits a review by the league office, which may lead to another suspension for the seasoned player.

A three-person officiating crew carefully reviewed the video footage and upgraded the initial call to a flagrant foul 2.

Referee Brian Forte described Green's actions as "unnecessary and excessive contact to the face."

Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic Clash in the Third Quarter

The altercation between Green and Nurkic occurred in the early stages of the third quarter when the two players became entangled while battling for position, per USA Today.

As the situation escalated, Green, seemingly losing balance, unexpectedly turned and struck Nurkic in the face.

Nurkic, despite crumbling to the ground initially, managed to get back up and continue playing.

Referees reviewed the play and subsequently assessed Green with a Flagrant 2 foul, leading to an automatic ejection from the game.

This incident comes less than a month after Green received a five-game suspension for a previous altercation with Minnesota's Rudy Gobert in November.

Before his ejection on Tuesday, Draymond Green contributed two points, two rebounds, and two assists in 17 minutes of gameplay, Dead Spin noted.

Exiting with a 65-60 lead, the Warriors, without Draymond Green, faced a 119-116 loss to the Phoenix Suns, dropping their season record to 10-13. Notably, the Suns played without Kevin Durant.

Draymond Green's Troubled Season Marked by Ejections

Green's ejection on Tuesday marks his third of the season, accounting for 20% of the games he has played so far, Yahoo! Sports reported.

The first ejection stemmed from a heated confrontation with Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, a relatively mild incident by Green's standards.

The second ejection, however, was more peculiar, involving an on-court scuffle between Klay Thompson and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels.

In this instance, Green intervened by grabbing Gobert by the neck, leading to his second ejection.

Acknowledging the need for personal growth after the second incident, Green's behavior on Tuesday raises concerns.

The NBA, citing his "history of unsportsmanlike acts," issued a five-game suspension following the altercation with Gobert, and a similar consideration is expected for any subsequent punishment.

The Warriors, facing a challenging season, currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference, outside the playoff picture.

The team's core, including the 33-year-old Green, faces additional challenges with aging players and a lack of desired contributions from younger talents.

Another suspension for Green further complicates the Warriors' already arduous journey in the current NBA season.
