The Houston Texans faced a barrage of injuries during their 30-6 defeat against the New York Jets on Sunday, with five players leaving the game due to various ailments, according to the team's website.

Head Coach DeMeco Ryans expressed the impact of the losses, stating, "We lost a lot of guys today."

Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and rookie defensive end Will Anderson Jr. were among the notable names on the injury list by the end of the game.

In the fourth quarter, Anderson left the game with an ankle injury, casting doubt on his return.

Early in the game, Nico Collins, the Texans' leading receiver, reached over 1,000 receiving yards for the season with a 13-yard gain. Unfortunately, he would not make another catch, exiting the game at halftime with a calf injury.

"Of course, it hurts when one of your best playmakers is not there," said Coach Ryan, acknowledging the setback.

Linebacker Blake Cashman later joined the list after suffering a hamstring injury.

Coach Ryans highlighted the significance of losing Cashman, noting his reliability on defense.

"It was tough losing Blake," Ryans said, stating that Cashman has consistently been a reliable presence on our defense, stepping up and earning the opportunity to take on more playing time; his absence is a setback for their defensive unit.

After halftime, cornerback Tavierre Thomas was also ruled out with a hamstring injury.

C.J. Stroud in Concussion Protocol

C.J. Stroud, the NFL leader in passing yards entering the game, is now in the concussion protocol. He suffered a hit from Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams late in the game, causing the back of his helmet to strike the turf, as per ESPN.

C.J. Stroud, visibly in pain, was attended to by the Texans' training staff, went to the medical tent, and then to the locker room for further evaluation. The quarterback did not return to the game.

Coach Ryans emphasized the need for better protection for Stroud, deflecting focus from the collision to the blocking.

"We can't allow them to get back to our quarterback. We have to block it better up front," said Ryans.

Williams, responsible for the hit, expressed his concern for Stroud's well-being on social media.

Nico Collins Out After Calf Injury

The Houston Texans faced a setback on the offensive front as wide receiver Nico Collins sustained a calf injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

The team confirmed at halftime that Collins was downgraded from questionable to out for the remainder of the game, Bleacher Report noted.

This injury adds to the challenges the Texans have already encountered on the offensive side.

In the previous week, rookie wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending injury, and Noah Brown entered the game with a questionable status.

With a somewhat battered lineup, the Texans, seeking their eighth win of the season, face the prospect of playing without Collins, who has been a crucial target for quarterback C.J. Stroud this season.

Collins boasts impressive stats, amassing 1,004 receiving yards and six touchdowns, the second-highest in the team's receiving group, trailing only Dell by one touchdown.

Collins managed to make a 13-yard reception in the first quarter before exiting the game due to the injury.
