The Houston Police Department is urging the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a tragic Texas road rage attack that claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl, Louise Wilson, and injured a teenage boy.

The incident occurred on Sunday in downtown Houston, prompting a plea for justice from the Texas teen's family during a news conference on Wednesday.

Patrol officers responded to a shooting report on the Pierce Elevated at Louisiana Street around 1:05 PM, according to Click2Houston.

Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle stopped on the freeway's shoulder, where Louise, unresponsive, and a male with gunshot wounds were found inside.

Despite efforts by the Houston Fire Department paramedics, Louise was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital and later released.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred when Louise, behind the wheel, attempted to avoid a braking vehicle, unintentionally swerving in front of a black or dark-colored, four-door sedan.

The unknown suspect(s) in the sedan fired shots from the passenger side window, injuring Louise and a backseat passenger while leaving another male passenger unharmed.

Texas Teen Louise Wilson Remembered as a Hero

The shooting transpired quickly, according to authorities, resulting from a common driving scenario, per KWTX.

"There was not a lot of exchange. It was something we've all done. I believe everybody who's driven on a Houston freeway had probably cut someone off by accident before and had to jockey for position on the freeway, and for whatever reason, this resulted in this act of violence," Detective Calab Bowling said.

Louise's father, Daniel Wilson, shared that his daughter and her boyfriend were on their way to the beach to watch the sunrise.

"She was just traveling through here on her way to Galveston," he said.

Describing Louise as a hero, he revealed that, despite being shot through the heart, she managed to safely pull over, potentially saving other lives in the process.

Daniel Wilson, emotionally addressing the unknown assailant, pleaded for their surrender, emphasizing the impact of taking "our baby girl."

"She wanted to help people, and she helped them, and we'll always remember that about her," Daniel said.

Louise, a homeschooled graduate who completed high school in three years while attending community college courses, had aspirations of attending the academy and working at a restaurant in preparation.

Limited Information on Suspect; Initiative to Tackle Road Rage

During the Wednesday press conference, police disclosed limited information about the suspect, describing the vehicle as a clean, newer model, four-door sedan, ABC 13 reports.

Detective Bowling acknowledged the challenges in obtaining more details.

Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite and Chief Troy Finner expressed their desire to revitalize the "safe roadways" initiative, established in 2021, after a similar road rage incident involving a 17-year-old.

However, concrete plans for the initiative's revival were not provided.

Mayor Sylvester Turner had previously advocated for TranStar cameras to record incidents on roadways in real-time, but obstacles have reportedly been encountered, with Finner and Satterwhite choosing not to elaborate further on the challenges faced in implementing this safety measure.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the Texas teen Louise Wilson's case.
