Rudy Giuliani's defamation trial is now all up to the jury as deliberation finally began after attorneys for Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss rested their case.

Mike Gottlieb, the attorney representing Freeman and Moss, stated that the former New York City mayor and Trump attorney did not see his clients as "human beings" when he spread conspiracy theories about them after the 2020 election as he delivered his closing arguments.

"He thought they were ordinary and expendable. He didn't see them as human beings," the lawyer told the jury. "It's dangerous for them to be Ruby Freeman or Shaye Moss because of Giuliani and his co-conspirators."

According to CNN, the two former election workers are seeking $24 million apiece in reputational damages. They are also seeking punitive and emotional damages against the former Trump lawyer as well.

As for Giuliani, while Gottlieb was giving his scathing closing arguments, he was seen reading news stories on a touch-screen laptop. He had already been found liable for defamation and owed Freeman and Moss over $230,000 for not responding to parts of their lawsuit.

Wandrea "Shaye" Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, are the two Georgia election workers that Giuliani, Donald Trump, and their allies singled out and spread false information over, claiming that they were filling ballot boxes with fake votes. This turned out to be false, and the two women have been subjected to racist harassment and death threats ever since.

Jury To Decide Only How Much Damages Rudy Giuliani Would Have To Pay Shaye Moss, Ruby Freeman

This case against Giuliani is only a civil one, so he will not be going to jail. However, as the judge has already ruled beforehand that he is already liable for defaming the two Georgia women, he may have to pay tens of millions more.

As the Associated Press noted, the potential damages the former New York City mayor could be paying could be hefty. This is on top of the criminal charges he is currently facing in Georgia over his and Trump's attempts to overthrow the election results.

Joseph Sibley, Giuliani's attorney, argued that Freeman and Moss saw his client as having "deep pockets" and were only squeezing him out of his money.

"I'm not saying Giuliani wasn't responsible for some harm," Sibley told jurors in his closing statement. "I'm trying to show you that just because these things happened, and they certainly did happen, that doesn't mean Giuliani is responsible for it all."

Rudy Giuliani Facing Bigger Case After Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss Lawsuit

Giuliani is projected to receive tens of millions of dollars in damages, but this is still not the biggest legal case he faces as he is one of Donald Trump's many co-defendants in the Georgia RICO case.

Several witnesses, including one of his partners in the election interference case, Sidney Powell, have already flipped against him and former President Trump. According to The Daily Beast, he is facing years behind bars as he struggles to find money to fund his legal troubles.
