Four Las Vegas teens have now been indicted by a grand jury over the deadly beating of a 17-year-old boy late last year. The suspects and the victim all studied at the same high school.

The four Las Vegas high school students were identified as Dontral Beaver, 16; Damien Hernandez, 18; Treavion Randolph, 16; and Gianni Robinson, 17. All of them were charged as adults with second-degree murder and battery charges over the death of Jonathan Lewis Jr. last November.

There were nine arrests made over the death of the Las Vegas teen, but only four were charged as adults so far. The Washington Times reported that the remaining five suspects are currently in the juvenile court system. They could still be transferred to a higher court under Nevada law.

Under Nevada law, teens 13 and older can face adult murder charges, with some of the suspects in that beating of Lewis being in the age range of 13 - 17 when the incident happened, according to authorities.

The Beating That Led to the Death of Nevada High School Teen

All four suspects, Damien Hernandez, Dontral Beaver, Treavion Randolph, and Gianni Robinson, appeared in court to receive their charges over the deadly beating, which was captured via cellphone video. While they were charged with second-degree murder, they were also charged with conspiracy to commit battery, a gross misdemeanor.

However, how did such a heinous incident such as this happen? It all began with the victim's vape pen and wireless headphones, setting up a fight outside school grounds between the Las Vegas high school students.

Las Vegas police stated that a total of 10 students between the ages of 13 and 17 participated in the beating in an alleyway near their school, Rancho High School. They reportedly set the fight up on November 1 after Lewis's vape pen and headphones were stolen. He walked into the alleyway with a friend ready to confront those he believed stole his belongings.

However, according to the Associated Press, cellphone video showed Lewis taking his shirt off and ready for a fight, but this was when the 10 suspects jumped on him and began beating and kicking him while he was down. Nine of them have been arrested but the 10th student is still at large.
