The "Taylor Swift Effect" is sweeping Brazil again. However, it is not due to her music this time, but it is more about the incident earlier this year when a fan died during her concert, with the country now trying to find ways to deal with extreme heat.

Brazilian climatologist Núbia Beray Armond has been sounding the alarm that cities like Rio de Janeiro, where 23-year-old Swiftie Ana Clara Benevides died due to the extreme heat, needed to have plans to deal with soaring temperatures and water distribution.

While many Brazilians were praising Taylor Swift for telling her staff to give fans water, the concert's Brazilian promoter went under fire after reports that it banned fans from bringing water inside the venue. Her death sparked outrage and even had the government involved.

Because of the incident, many in Rio de Janeiro wanted to enshrine water access into law. It also had authorities in Brazil consider it a public health issue. Rio is at the forefront, with lawmakers working on almost 100 bills to better deal with heat waves. This sudden move in trying to deal with extreme heat has been dubbed locally as the "Taylor Swift Effect."

"It's worrisome because we wonder how far these high temperatures are heading. The concern is that there's no end to it. We are in a very privileged place: Here in front of the beach, you cool off, but there are people in a much less favorable situation, and who are much more affected," Rio resident Eduardo Alves de Castro told the Associated Press.

Since Benevides' death, Rio City Hall has announced 150 designated areas within health posts that would distribute a saline solution to mitigate the impacts of heat waves and help people suffering from dehydration.
