Bradley Cooper is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to be the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel Studios made an offer to Bradley Cooper yesterday, Latino Review reports.  Cooper is famous for staring in popular films such as Silver Linings Playbook and The Hangover trilogy. A superhero role would be a bit of a deviation for Cooper, but it would appear that the actor is open-minded.

HuffPost Entertainment asked the star if he thought his fans would be upset if he appeared in a superhero film this far into his career.

"I don't think about [my brand] at all," Cooper said. "It's really simple: I just want to get better and work with great directors. That's it. That's the formula for me. I'm like a sponge. I just take in as much information as possible. Todd Phillips, Joe Carnahan, Derek Cianfrance, David O. Russell: these are great directors that I've had a chance to sit side-by-side with and learn."

Rocket Raccoon is a weapons-savvy, genetically-engineered procyoniod. His specialties include explosives and guns. The character was unknown to many until Disney signed on to the movie, creating buzz amongst movie lovers. Raccoon Rocket's look was revealed at Comic-Con and Disney's D23 Expo.

The casting of Rocket Raccoon has been long awaited. Director James Gunn, who's directed many films including Super and Slither, has been deliberate with his casting selection and makes no qualms about it.

"Here's the thing," Gunn said in an interview with Hey You Guys ! "There are a lot of people who have a lot of ideas of who is right for Rocket Raccoon. Rocket Raccoon has been slightly different over the years in the comic books, and within my scripts he is a very, very specific guy, and I think people are going to have to wait for a few weeks before they see."

Groot, Rocket Raccoon's partner, is best described as massive tree-man. Vin Diesel is said to be in negotiations to voice Groot. Both characters will be created by CGI.

Cooper's negotiations are reported to be in the early stages. Marvel Studios had no comment regarding the rumors.

Other actors associated with Guardians of the Galaxy include Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and will be released Aug. 1. Production started at the end of June and is currently taking place in London.
