Elizabeth Olsen is rumored to be in discussion with Marvel Studios to play the role of the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2012 film, The Avengers.

Reports of the Scarlet Witch appearing in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron came in May, when Whedon discussed the entrance of a "brother-sister" act in the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Olson is allegedly far along in negotiations to play the role of Wanda Maximoff, a popular character originally from the X-Men franchises. In the comic books, Maximoff is usually seen sporting a burgundy cape and pointy burgundy headdress. Her powers include the ability to manipulate probability and alter reality.

The news came after Saoirse Ronan allegedly turned down the role of the superhero. Ronan was apparently Joss Whedon's first choice.

Wanda's brother is Quicksilver, who has the mutant ability of superhuman speed. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been rumored to portray the mutant, whose real name is Pietro Maximoff, since June. According to Taylor-Johnson, he is still in discussion with Marvel Studios but has yet to sign a contract.

Despite this, it seems that Taylor-Johnson has already begun preparing for the role.

"His sister really is his guidance, emotionally she's the one who looks after him, and vice versa," he said. "He's very overprotective physically. He doesn't want anyone touching her."

One of the biggest questions concerning the role is whether Taylor-Johnson will look natural with Quiksilver's signature white hair. The Kick-Ass 2 actor does not think this will be a problem.

"When people haven't been shown your range like that, then they're a bit more skeptical," Taylor-Johnson said. "They may not want you to push the boundaries in that way, but that's what I'm interested in as an actor..."

There are also rumors that the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be portrayed as Europeans, meaning the actors will have to learn to mimic some type of accent.

Olsen is the younger sister of twin actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She is known for her roles in indie films such as Martha Marcy Mae Marlene and Red Lights. Other films she has starred in include Silent and the upcoming big-budget films, Godzilla and Oldboy.

Production of The Avengers: Age of Ultron is expected to begin early 2014. The release date has been set for May 1, 2015.
