Superstar and K-Pop idol Kim Namjoon, better known as RM, has confirmed he will complete his mandatory South Korean military service in June, signaling a key milestone in the countdown to a full BTS reunion.

Though he couldn't attend the 2025 American Music Awards in person, Namjoon made history from afar, winning the Favorite K-pop Artist award and becoming the first K-pop performer to do so both as a soloist and as part of a group.
In his Instagram Stories, the rapper thanked fans, writing, "Thank you @amaz #ARMY," and re-sharing a post from BTS's official account celebrating the win. He also reposted an article from Yonhap News about BTS's upcoming military discharges, adding a message that sent fans into a frenzy: "It will be soon, seriously, soon."
Namjoon began his military service on December 11, 2023, enlisting on the same day as fellow bandmate V. Throughout his time in the army, RM demonstrated the same leadership that has long defined his role in BTS, quickly rising to the rank of sergeant and earning an appointment as a platoon leader. His discharge date is set for June 10, 2025—just a few weeks away—and marks the near-completion of a complex chapter in BTS's collective journey.

The group's military hiatus has been staggered, with members enlisting at different times to allow for continued solo work and personal projects. Jin, the eldest member, was the first to enlist and also the first to return, having been officially discharged in June 2024. J-Hope followed shortly after and completed his service in October 2024. Both artists have since resumed their careers, with Jin releasing a second solo album titled Echo and J-Hope launching his "Hope on the Stage" world tour to enthusiastic reviews.
Meanwhile, V, who joined the military on the same day as RM, is also expected to finish his service on June 10, 2025. Jimin and Jungkook, who enlisted together, are slated to be discharged just one day later, on June 11. Suga, who is serving in an alternative public service role due to a past shoulder injury, will be the last to return, with his discharge expected on June 21. This means that by late June, all seven BTS members will have completed their mandatory service and be free to reunite.
This moment has been a long time coming. BTS officially announced their group hiatus in June 2022 to allow members to pursue solo careers and fulfill their national duty. Over the past two years, fans have witnessed each artist's evolution, from RM's introspective album Indigo to Jungkook's global hits and Jimin's historic Billboard chart debut. Now, the focus turns to what comes next—not just for each member, but for BTS as a whole.
Although BigHit Music has not yet confirmed a specific comeback date, the group's members have hinted at their desire to reunite quickly. In a recent interview, J-Hope said, "We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it's going to be massive energy." That sentiment is echoed across the fandom, as millions of fans await what is expected to be one of the most anticipated returns in K-pop history.
For now, Namjoon's quiet but powerful Instagram message—"It will be soon, seriously, soon"—has become a rallying cry. The wait for BTS is almost over.
