Jeremy Renner Accused of Threatening Filmmaker Yi Zhou With ICE Call Amid Alleged Misconduct Scandal
There are also accusations of "unwanted pornographic photos" and more

The Avengers star Jeremy Renner is facing explosive new accusations from Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou, who alleges the actor threatened to "call ICE" during a heated confrontation, sent her explicit images without consent, and verbally harassed her while intoxicated.
Zhou, 34, known for her documentary Chronicles of Disney, took to Instagram and later spoke to the Daily Mail, describing a "terrifying experience" with the 54-year-old Hawkeye star. She claims their professional relationship began in June 2025 after Renner reached out through Instagram, but quickly turned inappropriate when he allegedly sent "unwanted pornographic photos" via direct message and WhatsApp.
Despite the early misconduct, Zhou says the two entered a romantic relationship that evolved into creative collaboration. She invited Renner to participate in two of her upcoming films, Chronicles of Disney and Stardust Future, but what began as mutual artistic excitement spiraled into confrontation.
The alleged breaking point came on August 20 at Renner's Nevada home, where Zhou says the actor became drunk, "screamed for two hours," and left her fearing for her safety. According to text messages shared with the Daily Mail, Zhou contacted colleagues and family that night, saying she had locked herself in a room "to stay safe."
The accusation drawing the most attention is that Renner allegedly threatened to report Zhou to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after she confronted him about his behavior. "He told me he would call immigration on me," she wrote. "I was shocked, terrified, and humiliated." Zhou called the encounter an example of "how women, especially Asian filmmakers, continue to face discrimination and emotional abuse in Hollywood."
Renner's representatives have not issued a comment in response to media inquiries from The Daily Mail or The Daily Beast. The actor, who nearly died in a snow-plow accident in early 2023, has previously faced allegations of violent and erratic behavior from his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco during their custody battle in 2019, claims he denied in interviews with The Guardian and People.
Zhou has since posted partial screenshots of alleged WhatsApp exchanges, one of which includes a message fragment reading, "Immigration will be notified..." though she declined to release the full text publicly.
The filmmaker says she hopes her story encourages accountability in an industry still grappling with inequality and intimidation. "I'm not here to destroy anyone," she wrote. "I'm here to show that power should never equal silence."
