Britney Spears recently received many criticisms over an unedited version of new single "Alien" off her eponymous eighth studio album "Britney Jean" -- the track producer William Orbit now defends her raw and flat vocals via social media.

Fans got a chance to hear the 32-year-old pop star's real and natural vocal abilities, when the song without auto-tune and editing was leaked online on July 2 -- some of them were quite disappointed since it was something so different than the robotic-sounding, technologically-enhanced version.

"I tried but I never figured it out / Why I always felt like a stranger in a crowd," Spears sings in the untouched track. "That was then / Like an alien / But the stars in the sky look like home, take me home / And the light in your eyes lets me know I'm not alone."

As a result, Orbit took to his Facebook page to defend the "Toxic" singer, claiming that the recently leaked version was simply a vocal warm-up and not the final product. "Dearest Music Lovers, I have heard that Britney vocal link that everybody's been discussing," he said in a released statement. "It has been impossible not to as there have been many comments directing my attention to it. [I won't re-posting it here]. I'd like to affirm that ANY singer when first at the mic at the start of a long session can make a multitude of vocalizations in order to get warmed up."

"Warming up is essential if you're a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly," he added. "I've heard all manner of sounds emitted during warmups. The point is that it is not supposed to be shared with millions of listeners."
