On Thursday morning, the Emmy Awards announced the 2014 nominations.

HBO's "Game of Thrones" came out on top with the most nods, including Best Drama Series, while "Fargo" ranked in second with 18 nods and "American Horror Story: Coven" took away with 17, notes Mashable.

Once again, ABC's "Modern Family" will have another shot to win the Best Comedy Series award after winning the award four times already.  Also competing in the comedy category is the HBO's "Veep" and Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black."

Surprisingly, HBO's "True Detective" was listed in the running for the Outstanding Drama Series award, rather than in the Outstanding Miniseries category. As a result, this will tighten the competition in the most competitive category which includes other heavy weight shows like "Breaking Bad," "Mad Men" and Game of Thrones."

This year the academy decided to split up the miniseries and television movie category in order to avoid pinning shows like "Fargo" and "American Horror Story" up against made-for-TV movies, and to give everyone more nominations.

Seth Meyers will host the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on Aug. 25. The ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
