Vincenzo Nibali of Italy will look to continue wearing the yellow jersey when the 2014 Tour de France heads to Stage Eight on Saturday

Nibali of Team Astana still holds a two-second lead over his teammate Jakob Fuglsang in the general classification, while Peter Sagan and Michal Kwiatkowski remains in fourth place, 44 seconds and 50 seconds behind Nibali, respectively.

Tinkoff-Saxo rider Alberto Contador -- who is considered as the favorite to win this year's Le Tour after early favorite and defending champion Chris Froome withdrew -- is still struggling to keep in pace with the leaders.

The Spanish rider, who won the 2007 and 2009 Tour de France, is currently in 16th place in general classification, two minutes, 37 seconds behind Nibali.

But despite holding a comfortable lead against his main rival this year, Nibali admitted that he is still wary of Contador in the remaining stages of Le Tour.

"The coming week-end is going to be very difficult with a lot of climbs on the course," Nibali said via LeTour. "Alberto Contador gave me a signal of what he's keen to do when he asked Nicolas Roche to pull today. They didn't take me by surprise. It's normal that they try to make it up for the time lost and that I always have to keep an eye on them. I was up there. I'm well. My condition is good."

The eighth stage of the Tour is classified as a mountain stage, but the first 130 kilometers of the 161-kilometer race from Tomblaine to Gerardmer La Mauselaine, while the three climbs in the final stretch are relatively short and may not be enough to affect the leaderboard.
