Ray Allen has reportedly decided to continue playing next season after mulling retirement following the expiration of his contract with the Miami Heat this summer.

Chris Broussard of ESPN reported that Allen, who spent the last two seasons in Miami, has been telling people close to him that he intends to delay his retirement and try to get another shot at winning a title next season.

"Ray Allen has told people close to him that he will play in the NBA next season instead of retiring, according to a source with knowledge of the situation," Broussard wrote on Sunday.

Previous reports indicated that Allen, who averaged 9.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season, is leaning towards signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers because he would like to play with former Heat teammates LeBron James, Mike Miller and James Jones.

Allen also made it no secret that he wants to win his third NBA title, which makes the Cavaliers his most logical option as the Cavs are considered as the favorite to top the Eastern Conference next season with James' return and the reported acquisition of Kevin Love in a trade that could be finalized before the end of the month.

Sources said, though, that while the Cavaliers are the frontrunners to acquire the veteran shooting guard, who is the all-time leader for three-pointers made, Allen has not decided his next destination.

Allen said that he is not in a rush to make his free agency decision this summer, saying that he might wait until September before announcing his plans.

Jim Tanner, Allen's agent, also denied reports that his client has already decided to return next season, saying that the 39-year-old is still considering retirement.

"Agent Jim Tanner tells Yahoo that his client Ray Allen is still undecided on whether he will return to play another season in the NBA," Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported.
