The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has received quite a bit of attention after its debut Wednesday at Samsung's Unpacked event ahead of the IFA electronics conference in Berlin. Now that we finally can feast our eyes on the next generation of phablet, let's take a look at what all the fuss is about.

"Introduced earlier this week, the Note 3 sports a 5.7-inch screen -- a slight increase over that of the Note 2. However, the device is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, measuring just 8.3mm and weighing in at 168g. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,200mAh battery," reports CNET.

That battery is the largest one ever included in a phablet device, and should provide the Note III with an ample amount of juice. The Note III will also come with a leather-like backing with a stitched seam, giving the phone a hint of sophistication and originality not previously seen in most Android smart phones.

Then of course, there are the features that form the meat and potatoes of the Galaxy Note brand of phones. Most notably, that includes an upgraded S Pen stylus that has more power than ever before. The Note III also has progressed in its ability to offer functionality that smaller phones simply cannot accommodate.

"The Notes come with an updated S Pen and software that makes the pens more useful; the ability to interact with multiple applications at once; and enterprise-grade security via Samsung's Knox. They have magazine-style interfaces, multiple connectivity options, new design materials and never-before-seen features, such as the ability to draw a box with the S Pen and then make an app-the calculator, say, or YouTube-appear in it," writes eWeek.

The Note III's size and S Pen will also greatly aid in the execution of a much-anticipated Scrapbooker application. The user can simply take their S Pen and draw a circle around whatever it is that they want to scrapbook. That content will then be sent to Scrapbooker and can be viewed and (in the case of videos) played back at any time.

The Note III is expected to be released by major mobile carriers at the end of this month. It is believed that the phablet will have starting price of $299 with a two-year contract.
