As we near the release dates of the awaited PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this year, the battle for the best gaming console tightens and more people are already taking the long road of deciding which device to place their money on.

A lot of causal gamers may be considering getting either the Sony or Microsoft device for the Yuletide season. However, for most hard core gaming geeks, Christmas just won't cut it. They're already spending their money on a launch day edition of their preferred console.

If you're one of the many gamers who haven't decided which one to buy, here is a low down on the Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One launch day editions to help you make up your mind.

Sony PlayStation 4

Aside from the fact that Sony is tagging its console at $100 cheaper than Xbox One for its standard bundle and comes at an earlier release date (November 15), it also offers a range of launch day bundles for you to choose from. Amazon alone offers seven different bundles to choose from:

  • Standard Edition - standard PS4 set with console, (1) DualShock controller, (1) HDMI Cable, (1) Power Cable, (1) Wired Mono Headset, and (1) USB Charging Cable
  • Launch Edition - standard PS4 bundle released on launch day
  • Battlefield 4 and PS Plus Launch Edition - standard set plus Battlefield 4 game and a free PS Plus subscription card
  • DualSchock 4 Launch Bundle - the bundle was just announced this Sunday. It comes with an extra DualShock 4 controller aside from the standard one controller included in the set.
  • Killzone and PS Plus Launch Bundle - standard set plus Killzone: Shadow Fall game and a free PS Plus subscription card
  • Knack Launch Bundle - standard gaming set plus the PS4 Knack video game
  • Watch Dogs Launch Bundle - standard set plus the Watch Dogs game

According to Examiner, Best Buy and Walmart does not offer launch day stocks available online; however, Walmart and Target are accepting pre-orders for those willing to place down payments already.

Microsoft Xbox One

To be released on November 22 for $499 (standard bundle), the console has inched closely enough for Sony to smell trouble. For years, the PlayStation has dominated the gaming industry, but with Xbox One, the war has never been this close.

Several stores are also offering their own string of bundles, including Best Buy and Amazon. Best Buy offers several bundles and promised to open on midnight of the 22nd for eager gamers.

  • Xbox One: Day One Edition - the set includes a commemorative controller and an exclusive achievement
  • Xbox One Day One Edition Bundle, Call of Duty: Ghosts and 12-month Subscription - tagged at $679.96, this bundle includes one commemorative wireless controller, a second wireless controller, Call of Duty: Ghosts game and a 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership card (which allows you to play Killer Instinct: Round One with Shadow Jago).
