Although E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel has been criticized for its raunchy content, actor Jamie Dornan has hinted that the movie adaptation is not as intense.

Dornan plays S&M loving billionaire Christian Grey in the upcoming movie. In an interview with GQ magazine, he said the film is toned down in order to attract audiences, Yahoo UK reports.

"In some ways it'll break a few boundaries. But at the same time, they want to put bums on seats," he said.

Luckily for Dornan, however, he did not want the movie to be overtly shocking.

"They can't alienate an audience," he said. "You know it has to be watchable. It can't be hardcore. I wouldn't have signed up to it if it was."

Meanwhile, the stepfather of Dakota Johnson, who plays naive college student Anastasia Steele in the film, also doesn't seem to be concerned about the movie's raunchiness. In an interview with Yahoo, Antonio Banderas said that he will support Johnson's role.

"I have done that type of work too in the past, so who am I to tell my stepdaughter don't do it or just to have some kind of strange morality point to judge or something like that," he said. "No I'm pretty sure that she's going to be fantastic because she's very smart, and I think she's a good actress. ... So when the time comes I will go and I will watch it and try to have a judgment that is fair because it's very different when you see someone that's very close to you and just judge that person."

Although the movie won't premiere until Feb. 13, 2015, there are already talks of a sequel. "Fifty Shades Darker," based off of the second book in author E.L. James' trilogy, is reportedly seeking out Kendall Jenner, the younger sister of Kim Kardashain. This week, Daily Mail reported that a Grazia magazine source said the 18-year-old is in discussions with agents to appear in the movie.
