For Romeo Santos, 2014 has been a banner year. After two consecutive sold out shows at the Yankee Stadium in New York over the summer, the King of Bachata will join conscious rapper Common, rock legend John Fogerty, country icon Willie Nelson, and the Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige for an all-star tribute to the men and women who serve the United States: active duty military members U.S. Army SGT and civilians at U.S. Department of Defense locations around the world.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will host "A Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House," a PBS music special from the South Lawn of the White House in advance of Veterans Day and as part of The White House "Joining Forces" initiative. Santos will bring his own unique blend of Dominican and Puerto Rican flavor to the venue.

With a live audience that will include hundreds of members of the military, there will be a broadcast on Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. EST and again on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11 via the America Forces Network to American service men and women around the world. The production is also working with the United Service Organizations for a performance by Daughtry via satellite of their USO concert at Yokota Air Base in Japan. In addition, a live-viewing audience of troops from the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir in Virginia will make appearances in the White House concert and the subsequent broadcast.

The program, part of the Emmy Award-nominated "In Performance at the White House" series, is the 53rd production in the series' 36 years. Known for his groundbreaking strides in bridging the gap between tropical music and bringing the world of Bachata to an international audience, Santos will also be one of the few Latino artists to have performed for such an occasion.

This is not the only first for Santos' this year, who is transitioning to film, co-starring alongside Vin Diesel in the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7" and a motion picture adaptation of the "Angry Birds" video game, expected to hit theaters in July 2016.
