Step aside Robin Thicke, it's your wife, Paula Patton's time to shine -- and with that beautiful smile, she sparkled on the red carpet at the premiere of her latest film, "Baggage Claim," which was released in theaters this weekend.

Patton has been playing defense lately answering questions about her husband's racy MTV VMA performance with Miley Cyrus, Beetlejuice-like fashion sense and the status of her marriage with the R&B singer.

This time Patton was able to focus on her own career and celebrate her starring role alongside Taye Diggs, Jill Scott, Djimon Hounsou, Adam Brody and Trey Songz.

On Sept. 29, Thicke gave a shot-out to his wife on his official website, "Who saw #BaggageClaim and my girl @PaulaPattonXO this weekend?"

Thicke also commented on her latest role on at the film's premiere last week, telling MTV, "What's great about tonight, it's her being in a romantic-comedy starring role. She's in almost every scene. It's a long time coming. I couldn't be more excited and proud of her. We're just here to celebrate her greatness tonight."

In the film, Patton plays a flight attendant named Montana who has been unlucky in love and embarks on a 30-day journey across the country to reignite with old flames in the hopes of finding the one.

"It's a really fun romantic comedy. It's full of fun moments, but really it's about a girl who at the very beginning of the movie thinks she found the man of her dreams," Patton explained to MTV News at the film's premiere earlier this week in L.A. "She quickly realizes he's so not."

Ironically, in the advertisement for the film, it says, "How far would you go for Mr. Right?" and Patton told OnTheRedCarpet.com in an earlier interview the lengths that she went to ensure her Mr. Right wasn't cheating on her.

"When you were first seeing Robin, was there an element of Montana in you that was trying to figure out how to get him to propose, and how did he propose?" OTRC asked.

"I was a bit of a crazy, in love girlfriend and I remember, way before we were married, having this suspicion about him. So I drove all the way to his house and like crawl through the bushes, to look through the window I swear! And the worst part was that I got caught. The best part was that I was wrong. He caught me outside, he goes, 'I can see you,' like it was hilarious, it was like, 'You're not a good spy, OK?' And he had guy friends over. He was like, 'Come on over, see what's going on.' But the best part was, he said, 'You really do love me.' And I said, 'I do. Maybe [I'm] a little crazy.' He's like, 'That's OK, I'm a little crazy too.'"

In 2011, Patton starred in "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and in 2010, "Jumping the Broom."
