Jeremy Lin was inconsistent in his first five games in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, but Kobe Bryant remains optimistic that they could turn the tables around this season.

But in order to bounce back from their 0-5 start, Bryant said that Lin should continue to show aggressiveness, similar to what the 26-year-old point guard did when he tallied 18 points and three assists during their 112-106 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

"Lin was being more aggressive and taking shots," Lin said via LA Times. "I think the biggest thing for him to learn is to play relentlessly. The most important thing is that they understand the relentlessness they have to play with."

Bryant, who averaged 27.6 points to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists, vowed to go all out this season despite the fact that most analysts are already counting the Lakers out. The 36-year-old superstar added that he wants his teammates to play with the same intensity as him.

"I'll go out there, and I'll leave on the floor everything and compete and not be fearful of criticism or fearful of not playing well or missing shots," said Bryant, who drew flak with his 37 field-goal attempts on Tuesday. "That's the same way I want the guys to play, Jeremy in particular, because he's a really good player. He's just getting used to playing with that kind of effort and attitude."

Lin, who was traded to the Lakers from the Houston Rockets during the offseason, averaged 10.8 points to go along with 5.0 assists and 2.6 rebounds in their first five games this season, but most Lakers fans are irked with his inconsistencies.

Lakers legend James Worthy was not impressed with Lin during their first five games, saying that the former Harvard University standout has a lot to learn to become an effective playmaker.

"He's a work in progress," Worthy said of Lin via Lake Show Life. "He's a (two) guard trying to learn how to be a point guard. I'm not sure if he has a killer instinct yet."

Lin shot just 37.8 percent from the field and committed 3.4 turnovers per game in the first five matches. Worthy said that Lin should settle down and dribble less to avoid committing too much mistakes.
