During a recent interview with the Violet Files, actress Eva Mendes recently opened up about motherhood since giving birth to her first child with husband and actor, Ryan Gosling.

Mendes-who recently gave birth to her baby girl, Esmerelda Amada-revealed that she's "exhausted" since becoming a mother.

"I thought my wild nights were over but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had," Mendes added.

Mendes also revealed that she isn't the only person struggling with the new familial adjustment. Mendes' daughter, Esmerelda is also dealing with the difficulties of being a newborn.

"Everything is a struggle for [Esmerelda.] For instance, I haven't thrown up since the '90s and she's thrown up twice since we started this interview. Motherhood is cake compared to what it's like to be a baby," Mendes said.

Despite her struggles adjusting to motherhood, Mendes revealed that she and Gosling decided  not  to hire a nanny to help with their daughter.

Mendes explained that she did not want to miss out on the early experiences of parenting which she feels require a parent to struggle with "not being able to sleep and not knowing what I'm doing and really going through it with her and battling out those nights."

However, when things do become particularly difficult for Mendes and Gosling, they do turn to her and Gosling's mother's and siblings to help out, she admitted.

However, one aspect of parenthood that Mendes and Gosling did not look for help on was deciding the name of their daughter.

Mendes revealed that she and her husband agreed on the name Esmerelda due to their mutual love for the "Esmerelda character from the Victor Hugo novel 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.'"

Esmerelda's middle name was inspired by Mendes' grandmother's name which means "beloved" in Spanish, Mendes explained.

Mendes and Gosling first began dating in 2011 and and announced Mendes' pregnancy later in 2013, Us Weekly reports.

Mendes gave birth to Esmerelda on Sept. 12, says Us Weekly.
