Eva Mendes, like most beautiful celebrities, is admired for her body and sense of fashion. Mendes's fashion choices come with more restrictions, however, than some may think.

In an interview with Flare, Mendes revealed that she does not love wearing tight clothing.

"It's not that I'm against body-conscious clothes: I have worn them on the red carpet or out, but when I'm photographed in them, I always regret it," she said. "For me, it's always been the easy way out. When I wear something a little more revealing, I think, Oh, gosh, I should have been more creative."

The 40-year-old actress has long received encouragement to dress her sexiest from her mother.

"She's always saying, 'Show off your body, it's not always going to be like this!'" Mendes shared. "She's usually on the money [with her red carpet critiques]. If she doesn't like something, I can usually see why: it didn't photograph well or looked weird around the waist."

Mendes' favorite accessory is the head-wrap. Her fashion enemy, meanwhile, is denim.

"I'm always in dresses, in skirts-I think they're so easy," she explained. "People are always saying, 'I love jeans, they're so casual and easy,' but I think jeans aren't easy. They're my worst nightmare."

All this fashion talk becomes more important once you realize what Mendes's daily life is like.

"It's an important part of my day, what I choose to wear and put out there in the world," she told Flare. "I also have to remember that I probably will be photographed at the gas pump."

Mendes stars in the upcoming film How To Catch a Monster, which was written and directed by her boyfriend, Ryan Gosling. Mendes describes the movie as a "dark fairy tale."

"It's a beautiful, beautiful film," Mendes told E!. "He really created the most beautiful, collaborative, creative atmosphere on set. I know I'm bias ... He's the best [as the boss] It's a perfect ship."
