Six months after the car crash that killed his friend and left him with a traumatic brain injury, comedian Tracy Morgan was spotted going to a local post office with a walker recently.

"[I'm] fighting every day," he said to two paparazzi as he tightly clutched his walker, taking baby steps in New Jersey, ABC News reports.

The former "30 Rock" star suffered from a brain injury, a broken leg, nose and ribs when a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer crashed into his limo bus in June. Three other people were injured, and comedian James McNair was killed in the collision.

Tracy, 46, was hospitalized in critical condition immediately after the car crash and was later sent home to undergo physical therapy.

In November, Benedict Morelli, Morgan's lawyer, said the comedian is still recovering.

"Mr. Morgan is a fighter," Morelli told reporters. "He's fighting to get better. If there's a chance to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he is going to try to do that. We just don't know. But is he doing much better? He's doing better."

There is no telling how long it could take for someone to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

"After a severe traumatic brain injury, the brain has the ability, over time, to heal on its own," Robert Cohen, Psy.D told Yahoo Health. "The blood, swelling, toxic chemicals and hormones take a long time to pull back. After a severe injury, by and large, depending on the parts of the brain involved, it can take two to two-and-a-half years to get to a place where you'll peak."

The former "Saturday Night Live" comedian was spotted in October using a wheelchair.

"Most people with severe traumatic brain injury never get fully back there," Cohen said. "But that doesn't mean they're not going to be functional human beings."

It remains unclear if Tracy Morgan will ever perform again.
