New lists of the most-downloaded entertainment on ITunes were announced Monday, and the soundtrack to the animated film "Frozen" and Pharrell's popular feel-good track "Happy" are the year's best-selling album and song for 2014.

Apple revealed Monday that Taylor Swift's "1989," while just released in October, in next behind "Frozen" for top album. Coldplay's "Ghost Stories," Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hour" and another soundtrack, to Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," come in among the most popular albums. Despite having been released less than two months ago, Swift's latest album has become the only platinum-selling album of the year, reaching the one million copies sold benchmark within "1989's" first week of sales.

On the highest-selling songs, "Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo, Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," "All of Me" by John Legend, Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" and, of course, "Happy" are most popular individual tracks.

"Frozen" is this year's best-selling movie, which is unsurprising considering the film is the top-grossing animated movie of all time. The third season of HBO's fantasy drama "Game of Thrones" was named the top-watched TV show.

For digital book downloads, John Green's novel "The Fault in Our Stars," a 2012 book recently adapted into a film starring Shailene Woodley, was named top fiction book, while "Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt" and "Private" are No. 1 for non-fiction and free books, respectively.

Among the most popular apps available to Apple product users, the top paid app is the charades-like game Heads Up! And the most downloaded free app is Facebook Messenger, part of the social media company's recent unbundling of its mobile app services. On the iPad, more people paid for Minecraft Pocket Edition than any other app, while YouTube was the most popular free download.

Apart from fan-supported top picks, Apple also released its editorial list. This named Beyoncé as the best overall artist, Swift's "1989" as the best album of the year and Azalea's "Fancy" as the best song of 2014.
