In January, actress Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti, a three-time IndyCar 500 champion, announced their decision to split, ending their 11 years of marriage. However, it is possible that Franchitti's horrific high-speed crash on Sunday, Oct. 6 might be able to bring the couple back together.

On the last lap of the Houston Grand Prix doubleheader, Dario Franchitti was trying to make a pass to the outside of Takuma Sato's car. During his attempt, he caught the back of Sato's car and launched into the air crashing into a fence at high speed.

As a result of Sunday's accident, 13 spectators and an IndyCar Series official were injured, due to the debris that flew into the stands. Franchitti fractured two vertebrae in his spine, broke his right ankle, and suffered a concussion. While most of the injured people were being treated for minor injuries, two of the injured fans and the IndyCar 500 winner were transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. Franchitti had surgery on his ankle that night, and he was hospitalized.

When Ashely Judd received the news that Franchitti had gotten into a serious accident, she immediately rushed to be by his side. The actress wrote on her Twitter, "Thank you for the prayers for @dariofranchitti I have only clothes on my back & the dogs but that's all that we need & we are on our way." On Monday, she updated her followers by tweeting, "Amazed by the incredible outpouring of care & prayers. Thanks, everyone. Keeping our heads down hear & doing what's in front of us to do."

Dario Franchitti will be in Houston for the next few days as he recovers from the accident. Later on this week, he is expected to be transferred to an Indianapolis hospital.

Although the couple previously announced that their marriage was over, they have yet to file divorce papers. It is unclear whether they have reconciled or are simply on good terms, but it is clear that they still care about each other.
