The Detroit Tigers locked down a much-needed win in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Boston Red Sox to even the series at 2 games each.

With the teams getting deeper into the series, both squads are sending out their Game 1 starters to the mound. Jon Lester had a decent start but couldn't get the offensive support; he gave up only 1 run in 6 and a third innings pitched. On the other side, Anibal Sanchez did even better in that game as he gave up no runs and no hits in six innings on the mound.

The Red Sox are hoping to bounce back from the loss in which the offense was only able to tally one run off Detroit starter Doug Fister, who struck out seven in six innings.

Detroit Manager Jim Leyland has been impressed with both teams so far and he especially gives credit to the Boston Red Sox for staying alive after nearly falling into a 2-game hole early on.

"I think the two best teams are playing for the American League championship,'' Leyland said. "They never think they're out of it. They're tough and I think we showed tonight that we're tough, too . . . The series is tied. The only thing we know for sure is that we're going back to Boston."

If one of the two teams is able to win the next two consecutive games, then the series is over at Game 6 in Boston. But if it goes back and forth again, both squads will find themselves in a decisive Game 7 at Fenway Park to decide who gets to go to the World Series.
