Cindra Ladd, a former Hollywood executive and the wife of Hollywood producer Alan Ladd Jr., recently published an essay on Huffington Post detailing the time that Bill Cosby allegedly raped her.

In the essay, Ladd writes that she first met Cosby while working in New York in 1969 for late film producer Ray Stark. Upon meeting her, Ladd claims Cosby asked for her number, and she obliged.

Although the relationship between herself and Cosby was initially platonic, Ladd recalls that their friendship took a turn for the worst after Cosby offered her a pill for her headache and she lost consciousness.

"What I do recall, vividly and clearly, is waking up the next morning nude in the bed of his friend's apartment and seeing Cosby wearing a white terrycloth bathrobe and acting as if there was nothing unusual," she writes."It was obvious to me that he had had sex with me. I was horrified, embarrassed and ashamed."

Although Ladd admits that she felt "embarrassed and ashamed" at the time of the incident, she explains that it "never occurred" to her to report the incident to the police because it was a "different time" back then, and "'date rape' was a concept that didn't exist."

Though it has been 36 years since Ladd made the decision to remain silent, she says she found the courage to tell her story because "the simple answer is that it's the right thing to do."

"... the truth deserves to be known," Ladd continues in her essay. "As I write this, more than 20 women have come forward, many with stories that are remarkably similar to mine."

Cosby has yet to publicly confirm the various allegations accusing him of rape and drugging over two dozen women. However, earlier this month, he joked about the raping scandal during his stand-up show in London, Ontario. The National Post reports that as a woman in the audience stood up from her seat and made her way to the bar to grab a drink, Cosby stopped her and asked her where she was going. The woman explained that she was going to get a drink and offered the comedian a glass.

"You have to be careful about drinking around me," Cosby responded with a smile."
