The hits keep on coming for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Already mired in ongoing divorce proceedings, the couple is now the target of a lawsuit filed by a former nanny alleging she was fired by the couple because "she showed too much affection for their twins."

TMZ reports it obtained a copy of the lawsuit filed by Simonette DaCosta which seeks unspecified back pay and damages. DaCosta further charges Carey never took well to her feeding, bathing and comforting the kids on a full-time basis since the time they were infants. As revenge, DaCosta alleges the soulful diva often openly berated her, and she was regularly forced to work as many as 100 hours per week.

The 34-year-old Cannon formally filed for divorce from his wife of six years in early December. Soon after, word leaked that the couple had been living apart and estranged long before the filing.

"It's truly just staying focused on family and what's right and getting through these time and just doing what's right for the kids," Cannon recently told talk show host Meredith Vieira. "We've always been people who are kinda on the go, coming and going, so their life hasn't changed one bit. We spend holidays together, we do everything that we're supposed to do together."

The 44-year-old Carey is easily one of the music world's most celebrated artists, selling more than 200 million records over her career. Among her greatest hits are "One Sweet Day," "I Still Believe," "I Don't Wanna Cry" and "Vision of Love."

Cannon has starred in such films as "Drumline," "Love Don't Cost a Thing" and "Roll, Bounce."
