The Playstation 4 is so popular in its first 24 hours on the market that the Playstation Network is already facing problems due to an overload of gamers.

An alert that was posted to the support page on Playstation's website asked for gamers to remain patient while they work to resolve the issue.

"The PlayStation Network is currently experiencing [extremely] high volume," the note reads. "As a result, some gamers may experience some difficulty connecting to the network or downloading content. We are actively working to resolve the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

The biggest problem with network issues is that they are becoming more and more necessary for gamers to even play on their consoles. For example, as mentioned by IGN, a PS4 automatically connects to the Playstation Network once online to download new firmware, but this might not be ready for days and PSN issues will draw all kinds of complaints.

There is, however, an alternative option available. You can always grab it from Playstation's website and transfer it to a USB stick to bring to the console.

According to IGN, Sony said that the issues are in both the United States and Canada.

The PS4 costs $400 and is up against the rival Xbox One, which is set to be released on Nov. 22. Sony's Microsoft counterpart is listing the Xbox One at $500 at the start, which is similar to the way the Xbox 360 was priced in its release. The Playstation 3 was cheaper just as the PS4 is the cheaper option.
