With everyone getting excited for the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie, can it affect the adaptation's promotion after some library copies of the book were discovered to have herpes?

NY Daily News reported that there was a pair of professors from Belgium who discovered a copy of the erotic book series from the Antwerp Library having traces not just of Herpes but also of cocaine. The shocking discovery was the result of their examination of the top ten most borrowed books in the specific library. All ten books had cocaine residue apart from just the E.L. James book.

The other book copy which tested positive for a Herpes simplex virus is entitled Tango written by Crime Fiction author Pieter Aspe. Such discovery sounded a little too creepy especially for the fans though the professors who led the examination emphasized that the disease cannot be contracted by reading but by sexual activity.

Express UK added that according to Jan Tytgat, a toxicology professor, the traced residue on the literary items were all too tiny to harm those who will hold and read it. In fact, past studies showed that the most popular library books often borrowed carry around 25-40% of microbes with them.

Another research team from Utah which includes Joshua Nicholson discovered that there were several other spots of bacterial growth found on the book cover.

The upcoming film adaptation still has not done any production shoots as it is set to begin by next month but its stars have dressed up for its first set of publicity pictures featured on the cover of the Entertainment Weekly.

Dakota Johnson who will play Anastasia Steele thinks that the plot is an "incredible love story" while Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey garnered a lot of positive reaction from fans, as replacement for Charlie Hunnam.

After this news, we're guessing it's best to just buy your own copy or if you can't help but to borrow from the library, then wash all those bacteria off with a hand sanitizer.
