Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Frank Mir ended his slump on Sunday after scoring a first-round knockout win against Antonio Silva at UFC Fight Night. With the win, Mir believes that big things will come for him soon.

And if he will have it his way, Mir, who lost four consecutive fights before his win against Silva, wants to face Brock Lesnar to complete a trilogy between the two of them if his rival decides to return to UFC when his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment expires.

"I think it would be a huge, big fight," Mir said in a post-fight press conference, referring to the third fight against Lesnar. "I think it's something that would catapult my name even higher up. I mean, a rubber match between the two of us would be a phenomenal fight."

Mir, who admitted that the possible rematch with Lesnar was one of his motivations heading into his fight against Silva, won via submission in his first showdown with Lesnar at UFC 81 in 2008, which was the WWE superstar's Octagon debut.

Lesnar then won the UFC heavyweight title, which lined him up to a rematch with Mir in 2009 at UFC 100, where he scored a second-round knockout victory to redeem himself from the submission loss in his UFC debut.

Lesnar is in contract with WWE and is set to headline WrestleMania 31 in March. But after his appearance at WrestleMania 31, reports indicated that Lesnar will return to UFC to take care of "unfinished business" and Mir will gladly welcome his rival back to the Octagon.

And in the event the third fight happens later this year, Mir believes that he will emerge victorious against his old foe if he performs like the way he did against Silva on Sunday.

"If Brock Lesnar decides to come back, I'll welcome him back," Mir said via MMA Junkie. "I don't think he likes getting punched very much; I'm looking like I'm actually figuring how to punch pretty hard. So whoever they give me. If I come in at 100 percent and I feel good like I did tonight, I wouldn't bet on anybody across from me."
