Even though the Academy Awards are a year away, distributors are starting to put together there slates and starting to create buzz for their films.

Fox Searchlight, which just won two Best Pictures in a row, recently announced that the distributor will release "Brooklyn" on Nov. 6. The film was acquired at the Sundance Film Festival, where it scored rave reviews and immediately had pundits talking Oscars. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson and tells the story of young Ellis Lacey who has to choose between two men and two countries.

When the movie premiered critics compared it to "An Education," which went on to be nominated for three Oscars, including Best Picture. Fox Searchlight's date clearly represents the company's hope at Oscars as most November dramas end up with Oscar nominations and get huge awards pushes.

Fox Searchlight is an expert at the Oscar game, as it has seen three of its films win Best Pictures including "Slumdog Millionaire," "12 Years a Slave" and "Birdman." It has also seen "Black Swan," "Juno," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Descendants," "The Tree of Life" and "Sideways" go on to score Best Picture nominations.

"Brooklyn" isn't the only film that the company will bank on this year as it has Jean-Marc Vallee's "Demolition" and Thomas Vinterberg's "Far from the Madding Crowd" coming out this year. However, Vallee's film has no date at the moment and Vinterberg's film is currently slated for the summer, which does not bode well for awards. The company could also still acquire another film at Cannes or at the Toronto Film Festival. However, for now it seems "Brooklyn" could be a shoo-in for Best Picture.

Focus Features announced that Tom Hooper's latest film "The Danish Girl" will be released on Nov. 27. The news comes a few days after the first still of the film was released and showed Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as a transsexual.

The biopic is inspired by the true story of Danish artists Einar Wegener and his wife Gerda. The portrait of the marriage asks: What do you do when someone you love wants to change?

The movie is a definite Oscar contender, especially since Hooper already has a Best Picture film to his name, "The King's Speech," and his follow-up "Les Miserables" was also nominated for the Oscar.

It stars Redmayne, who recently won the Oscar for "The Theory of Everything." The film is also being produced through Working Title, which has had an immaculate Oscar run throughout the past few years. The company has been behind awards contenders "The Theory of Everything," "Les Miserables," "Anna Karenina," "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," "A Serious Man," "Frost/Nixon" "Atonement," "Pride and Prejudice" and "Billy Elliot."

Focus Features will also release the film and for the past few years the distributor has had a number of Best Picture nominees. Some of these films include "The Theory of Everything," "Dallas Buyers Club," "The Kids Are All Right," "A Serious Man," "Milk," "Atonement" and "The Pianist." While the company has never won a Best Picture, "The Danish Girl" is likely to be a Best Picture nominee.
