Poor Angel Di Maria.

He won the Champions League with Real Madrid, essentially providing the defining performance of the final, but was all but forced out of the team last summer.

So he joins a rebuilding Manchester United team that was possibly one or two pieces away from making noise, but finds his fate pitiful. Manchester United, even under a manager like Louis van Gaal, is past its prime and is bringing down the Argentine with it.

Understandably, Di Maria is on the lookout for a new home as early as next season. And that place looks to be PSG, according to some reports.

It certainly seems to be an interesting proposition, especially for the team in question. How many times have people stated that the Ligue 1 side was a piece away from contending with the big boys like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona? And how many times have we seen this team underperform despite major transfers?

Well, Di Maria, at his age, is in his prime and would be the best move that PSG could bring to the table. He is versatile on the wing or in the middle. He has tremendous speed and scoring instinct. He has creativity and can break down opposing defenses with his imposing dribble.

There is little that Di Maria cannot do.

So why has his stay at the Old Trafford been less than satisfactory?

One would have to look at the players around him to see that, unfortunately, many are just not on the same level. And the players that are elite, such as Robin van Persie, are past their best and no longer as effective. Throw in the fact that this team has minimal defense acumen and you have a sinking ship.

Manchester United could make moves to sort out the back end, but they have to make them quick or Di Maria will be on his way out quickly. And then the ship will be even more difficult to fix.
