Though they remain on speaking terms nearly eight years after their divorce, Ryan Phillippe still seems to have some regrets about his failed relationship with Reese Witherspoon.

After two children and more than eight years of marriage, the pair split in 2007 after rumors of the "Crash" star's alleged infidelity with Australian actress Abbie Cornish began to surface.

"I think more of the problem was age," the now 40-year-old Phillippe recently reflected during an appearance on the "Larry King Now" show. "When we got together we were so young," added Phillippe, who met the "Wild" actress on her 21st birthday. "I think it can create issues with two people in this industry because there's so much noise that goes along with it."

Though he has developed somewhat of a bad-boy image during his time in Hollywood, Phillippe, who also has a young daughter with actress Alexis Knapp, insists he isn't too stressed about the time when 15-year-old daughter Ava will commence dating.

"I grew up in a very, very female household so I have a real sensitivity with that connection with [Ava] because of that," he said. "I don't think she'll suffer fools. She's going to have high standards."

As for his own reputation, Phillippe, who for the last four years has been romantically linked to civil rights attorney Paulina Slagter, later added, "I'm a pretty regular dude. I'm also a pretty dedicated dad and have multiple companies, so there's not a lot of time for me to be a Hollywood bad boy."

After a two-year romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, the now 38-year-old Witherspoon recently married CAA agent Jim Toth, and the two have a 2-year-old son together.
