Beats Music, a new music streaming service and child of Beats by Dre, will be launching in Jan. 2014.

The streaming service, which is derived from the popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, was announced by CEO Ian Rogers in a blog post on Wednesday.

"We're in an internal, private beta with people who know and love music (including a few of my personal heroes)," Rogers said. "We're providing a few artists and other influencers access to familiarize them with the service and get their early feedback. We're making improvements based on that feedback."

The streaming service was originally expected to launch late 2013, but as Orson Welles says in a video attached to Rogers' blog post, "We will sell no wine before its time."

"Thankfully I work with people who have patience and are more concerned about getting Beats Music right than pushing it out the door," Rogers wrote regarding the late launch. "In retrospect we've accomplished far more this year than I'd imagined possible."

Although the streaming service will not launch until next month, eager Beats lovers can sign-up and reserve a username today. Visiting BeatsMusic.com allows future users to guarantee a clever handle so they can listen to their jams with pride.

Beats Music will stand out from the music streaming crowd, which includes Pandora Radio, Spotify and iTunes Radio, by focusing on curated playlists, TechCrunch reports. According to the website, possible features include allowing users to listen to the same playlist that their favorite celebrity is enjoying at the time.

Associated Press reports that Beats Electronics LLC, was founded in 2008 by rapper and producer Dr. Dre and gained fame with its powerful Beats by Dre headphones. In 2012, Beats Electronics bought MOG, a subscription-based music service. In March, Beats Music became its own company after Access Industries led a $60 million investment.
