Sam Champion is ditching ABC's "Good Morning America" for the "Weather Channel" where he will be anchoring and managing the network's new flagship morning show. Champion told the public that he was leaving Good Morning America because him and his husband wanted to start a family but he didn't tell us the entire reason.

Turns out that Sam Champion had been very unhappy at GMA, a source says. He's wanted his own show for a while now and when he finally realized that ABC executives weren't going to give him one, he turned to the "enemy", NBC. The Weather Channel, which is co-owned by NBC gladly, jumped on the opportunity to offer the position to the quirky host. "Sam loves power, and becoming managing editor of the Weather Channel gives him that", says the source who is very close to the situation.

The source also added that Sam wanted to be the one to replace Larry King on CNN and he was shocked when he wasn't contacted to do so. We hear that one person who isn't happy with Champion's move is Al Roker, who's "not a fan" of Sam. Sources say he "is pissed" about his Weather Channel show being the host's lead-in.

Wow, morning show world sure is a shady one huh? Sam was reportedly making $2.5 million at GMA and will be making around the same amount at the Weather Channel.

Another big part of this move is Sam's husband and the kids they plan to have. The kids will be able to get to know their dad as he will be able to spend half of his time in Miami with his family. It's understandable to be ambitious and want to succeed in what you do, but we hope that Sam's attitude has just been misunderstood. It's hard to believe that the man with the big smile that used to wake us up every morning with his energy and pizazz would be so power thirsty.
