One Direction's third studio album "Midnight Memories" scores No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week with its 546,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The record's victorious sales outcome makes history as the first band to debut at No. 1 with its first three albums.

The British boy band's latest chart-topping project follows their previous releases of two No. 1 albums, including their debut album "Up All Night," and sophomore album "Take Me Home." Consequently, One Direction certainly is the first group with three albums to reach No. 1 in a row since The Monkees in 1967.

One Direction's first-week sales have also steadily grown with each successive album. "Up All Night" led the list, moving 176,000 units, while "Take Me Home" had a huge increase in sales, selling far more with 540,000 copies.

With the successful release of "Midnight Memories," One Direction also becomes only the third pop group to have multiple half-million sales weeks in the Nielsen SoundScan era. Since the company began tracking sales in 1991, only two other pop groups had more than one sales week of 500,000, which are 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys.

In addition, Eminem's eighth studio album "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," which was No. 1 last week, dropped to No. 2, although there was a 65% sales gain, selling 199,000 copies. Garth Brooks' "Blame It On My Roots," which was released exclusively at Walmart, secured No. 3. Within four days of its Thanksgiving Day release, the six-CD/two-DVD set sold 164,000 copies.
