The Houston Texans have been the most disappointing team in the NFL this season and the team's ownership has seen enough.

Just shortly after the Jacksonville Jaguars handed the Texans their 11th loss of the season, Houston owner Bob McNair pulled the plug on head coach Gary Kubiak's tenure with the team. Kubiak was fired after leading his team to 11 straight losses following back to back division titles in the AFC South. Wade Phillips will become the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

"The last straw was losing. We have a lot better talent than Jacksonville,'' McNair said. "We are so disappointed and shocked by what has happened. ... Gary accepted it and understands the situation."

McNair went on to express how different things are now after he envisioned another successful season.

"I truly felt that (Kubiak) would be with us until it was time to retire," McNair said. "But we have to do what's best for the organization. We're here to have a winning culture, and this year does not contribute to that . . .This has been a very disappointing year for the Texans organization. We started out with such high hopes, we started out with the best roster we've ever started a year with. ... And to have this string of losses that we've sustained is just totally unacceptable. It's not what this organization is about. It's about winning and accountability."

Houston lost to the Jaguars by a score of 27-20 and the team was responsible for 14 penalties. The Texans have played in plenty of close games this year and they have set an NFL record by losing in seven straight games by only seven or fewer points.

General manager Rick Smith said the team play to use the final remaining weeks of play to look over the roster and look ahead to next season.

"What's taken place with this organization is unacceptable,'' Smith said. "We've got three weeks of an evaluation process left and we've got to right the ship.'"
