“The Blacklist” is moving into some serious limbo land.

The last episode, "Vanessa Cruz," had Red (James Spader), our smooth-talking mastermind, lying on a road and bleeding out of his mouth, exposing some never before seen vulnerability.

And what’s more, the previous episode saw Liz (Megan Boone), regardless of her history of being jerked around by Red, stick up for the man’s often times seemingly invisible moral code.

An upcoming episode of the dark NBC series prolongs Red’s fragile state.

In the show titled "Leonard Caul," as reported in Spoilers Guide, Red will fight to stay alive and will beg Liz to find a fellow named Nicholas Caul, a shady figure from his past with knowledge of The Fulcrum, a mysterious blackmail file that his life now apparently depends on.

Everyone in the task force is working to locate Caul before Red's life is once again threatened.

Meanwhile, Tom (Ryan Eggold), who has been struggling with trying to start life over as an honest man, becomes as unexpected asset to the team.

Liz, a woman whose father was a career criminal who abandoned her as a child, is tough. As a result of her experiences, she is all about taking care of herself.

In an interview in Capital Life, actress Megan Boone spoke about putting a great deal of her own ideas into her role as an FBI profiler.

“In the past I’ve played police officers and prosecuting attorneys, and I’ve shadowed police officers and the DA,” said the 31-year old actress, who was a regular on "Law & Order: Los Angeles."

“But with the FBI, that doesn’t happen. I don’t get to shadow an FBI agent, so it’s guesswork for me. I can’t follow an agent, but I can at least understand the dynamics of her relationships, the situations that she’s entering into.”

The next episode of "The Blacklist" will air April 23.
