Producers of "Furious 7" have finally spoken about whether or not there will be an eighth film.

Producer Neal Moritz told the Hollywood Reporter that they were going to meet at some point to discuss sequel plans but were currently enjoying the success of "Furious 7." He said, "Honestly, we're just bathing in the success of this. We'll probably get together in a week or so to talk."

Moritz added, "[The story] is going to have to be something enticing for all of us," says Moritz. "It has to be as good as or better [than Furious 7]."

The reason there is still doubt about a sequel is due to the absence of the late Paul Walker, who originated the series and was one of the most beloved characters in the series. However, Universal chairman Donna Langley said back in 2014 that the studio had plans to make 10 films.

Star Vin Diesel also has plans for another installment as he has already said that he wants the next project to take place in New York.

At this point, there is no director attached to an eighth installment as James Wan, who helmed the seventh installment, is currently working on "The Conjuring 2" and he will be busy with the film until October. Meanwhile, director Justin Lin, who worked on installments three through six, is directing the upcoming "Star Trek 3."

Additionally, there is speculation that contracts will have to be renegotiated, such as that of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, whose deal is on a film-by-film basis.

"Furious 7" is breaking records and is currently on track to make more than $200 million by the end of the weekend. The film is also slated to top the $1 billion mark internationally by the end of its theatrical run. The film stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Romeo Santos.
