In "Reign" Season 2 Episode 19, "Abandon," the threat of England is looming over France and King Francis' health remains in question.

Mary has taken on full responsibility of the crown, placing her romantic plans and dreams with Condé on hold. In this episode, we see her doing the right thing and aligning herself with the King of France at a perilous time.

She promised to take Condé to Scotland, where they could be together and she could unify her kingdom, but that plan seems impossible now.

In "Abandon," Condé makes a bold move that would tie him to England. This may come as no surprise to Mary since he admitted to working Queen Elizabeth, however, there surely will be feelings of betrayal. Is he leaning toward England to protect his own interests, or could it be out of heartache that he sees no future with Mary?

Fan will remember that in "Tempting Fate," Mary asked Condé to choose between her and Queen Elizabeth. He chose Mary at that time, but was he honest? She told him that he is her choice, and the ill-fated lovers enjoyed sex for the first time. It is difficult to tell if the intimacy brought them closer, but if it had, would Condé continue his alliance with England?

In that same episode, Mary's agent, Ridley, was killed by a man who found her letters about her plans to return to Scotland. The letters were handed over to Narcisse who in turn gave them to Catherine. It seems Narcisse is strongly aligned with Catherine -- he even told her Claude attempted to seduce him.

In this latest episode, Narcisse and Catherine work to further their relationship, especially to win favor in court.

Meanwhile, Kenna gets closer to General Renaude (guest star Vincent Nappo) as Bash becomes increasingly distant.

Season 2 is building to a grand finale, which will introduce Queen Elizabeth into the mix. No doubt she will be a significant part of the third season, as we watch the dynamics between England and France play out.

"Reign" Episode 19 "Abandon" is scheduled to air on Thursday, April 23, 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
