Teen star Zendaya responded to the comments made by "Fashion Police's" Giuliana Rancic but did not say anything negative.

This year's Radio Disney Music Awards host tells "Good Morning America," "I had to stop myself from being ignorant and being a kid."

"As a teenager you want to say the first thing that comes out of your mouth and I had to really take my time and think about what my parents taught me, which is -- the important things in the world are your voice and your knowledge," Zendaya added.

Rancic said the teen star must smell "like patchouli oil, or maybe weed," because of her red carpet appearance where she styled her hair in dreadlocks.

"Hopefully, whether it be a little girl out there or a young man out there that was able to read that and see positive change and stand up for themselves in any kind of incident in their life, then I did what I'm supposed to do," the Disney Channel star added.

Rancic publicly apologized to Zendaya after the incident, Latin Post reported according to Yahoo! Celebrity at the time.

"I want to apologize for a comment that I made on last night's 'Fashion Police' about Zendaya's hair," she said.

"Now, as you know, 'Fashion Police' is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit. But I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line," she added. "I just wanted everybody to know that I didn't intend to hurt anybody but I have learned that it is not my intent that matters, it's the result."

The incident allegedly caused issues on set with fellow co-hosts Rancic and Kelly Osbourne, Latin Post noted nearly two months after Rancic made the comment.

Zendaya revealed that she will continue to be a positive influence for young people since the music industry usually lacks that kind of support.
