During a recent interview with The Guardian, Chris Rock opened up about how he is coping with his pending divorce from Malaak Compton Rock, his wife of 19 years.

The Huffington Post reports that Chris announced his separation from Malaak back in December but remained quiet about the separation until now.

While speaking with The Guardian, Chris explained that his feelings on the split change frequently, but he is happy his daughters are dealing with the split in a "good" way.

"You know, some days are better than others, some days you're sad outta your f**king mind," he explained. "But my daughters are good and I'm only an hour away. Two houses close by. It's good."

When asked whether or not he will joke about his divorce during his comedic stand-up routines, Rock shared a joke that he's already formulated regarding his split.

He joked, "Marriage is so tough, Nelson Mandela got divorced -- he got out of jail after 27 years of torture, spent six months with his wife and said, 'I can't take this sh*t no more.'"

And though Chris says that his living situation still allows him to see his daughters, People reports that since their split, Malaak refuses to permit Chris normal and usual access to their children because Chris allegedly "has acted in a manner detrimental to the children's best interests."

The Huffington Post reports that Malaak's lawyer also released a statement regarding the couple's split that reads, "We all know Chris leads a very busy public life while Malaak and their children definitely do not. She hopes the privacy of their children is still as important to Chris as it is to her and that it will be respected. They will always be the main focus of her life."

Chris Rock has yet to publicly address Malaak's lawyer's statements.
