Nintendo is quite known for its generation-fitting and tech-savvy approach to launching gaming content all over the world. Instead of doing so through regular press conferences, the company opted to go fully digital – a first in the industry.

Gamers have been anticipating what surprises Nintendo has in store for the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015. Fans were not surprised to find out that Nintendo will be utilizing the same digital approach.

What was a total surprise to them was Big N’s announcement that they will be resurrecting the Nintendo World Championships after being absent for 25 years, according to Game Rant.

"Whether you're tuning in online or joining us at the show, we want to include fans of all ages this E3 with an innovative and nostalgic focus on fun. I'm especially eager to bring back the Nintendo World Championships and to crown the 2015 Nintendo World Champion," Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's President and Chief Operating Officer said, said in a statement.

As mentioned, in lieu of an actual press conference, Nintendo will be using their highly unique Nintendo Digital Event. Multiple online news sources have reported that this event will begin on June 16 at 9 a.m. PST.

Once the event is over, Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 will begin. Through this second program, the company will unveil some new games that their developers have been working on for the 3DS and Wii U.

The Nintendo World Championships will be launched on May 30 in select Best Buy locations all across the United States. The regional champions will get a chance at competing in the finals, which will reportedly be held on June 14 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

The ultimate winner will be dubbed as the 2015 Nintendo World Champion. Those who are in the area can visit the location to be able to watch the players compete with each other live. However, those who cannot physically attend the event can still enjoy it by while watching the online broadcast.

Those who visit the participating Best Buy locations on June 17 can also get a hands-on experience with “Mario Maker” from 4 to 9 p.m. local time and noon to 5 p.m. local time on June 20. As an additional incentive for the fans, they can also get their own special “Super Mario Bros.” 30th anniversary pin just for checking out the new game.
