“Spider-Man” reboot film has reportedly found its new lead actor in Asa Butterfield from “Ender’s Game."

Latino Review reported the young actor is in talks to star in the upcoming mega project, which is actually a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

Before Butterfield was chosen, as some reports claim, the trail towards selecting the young actor who is most suitable for the web-slinger’s role was quite arduous, to say the least. A lot of names were tossed around for quite some time, including Ansel Elgort of “The Fault in Our Stars” and Dylan O’Brien of the “Maze Runner.”

Marvel had already previously revealed that they were looking for a much younger actor to play the role of Spider-Man. In fact, the company wanted the new friendly neighborhood web slinger to be a high school teenager version of Peter Parker.

Screen Rant pointed out that there was a short list that held names of five actors last month. The studio reportedly had these five young actors to choose from, with the race closing to an end with two top choices, Butterfield and Tom Holland.

However, Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter thinks otherwise. According to him, his insiders have informed him that Butterfield has not been given any final offers yet. It is true, though, that Marvel and Sony like him a lot. The actor has this week for some tests, but other young actors were also going to be there, too.

"You guys got conflicting reports from conflicting sources," he wrote on Twitter. "Who has got the better person in-the-know?"

The negotiations that Butterfield has with the studio is about a test contract, Cinema Blend noted in its updated report. Holland had already gone through a similar process several weeks ago, and the studio liked him as well.

Whoever gets the role, the newly chosen Spider-Man actor might be a part of the upcoming “Captain America 3: Civil War,” as Robert Downey Jr. hinted that "He may well be, yeah."

Although Spider-Man may start off by making some cameo appearances in other Marvel movies, he will also be featured in his very own solo film soon. Marvel even had to push back some other movies, such as “Thor 3: Ragnarok” and “Black Panther,” just to pave the way for the “Spider-Man” reboot.

Unfortunately for the fans, the studio has managed to keep mum about any details about the “Spider-Man” reboot, but it is expected that several members of the Avengers will appear in the film.
