Real Madrid is determined to bounce back after failing to win any major trophies this season. Aside from hiring a new coach, the Los Blancos are looking for new additions to their roster, and one of them could be Manchester City and Premier League top scorer Sergio "Kun" Aguero.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez may have set his sights on the Argentine. According to Spanish outlet AS, the 27-year-old has been on the radar of the Spanish club since 2011, but did not push through with his signing to prevent conflict with Atletico Madrid.

It would have been a done deal if Real Madrid pursued Aguero. Before the striker went to the Premier League to join Manchester City, he expressed his desire to be part of the Los Blancos.

In 2012, Aguero told ESPN that he would go for a move to Madrid if the club had offered him a deal.

"If Real Madrid has been interested in me, then I would be here," said the striker. "I had no option but to join City."

He added, "I want to take this opportunity to refute the information where I supposedly said that I would never play for Real Madrid because I played at Atletico. It was published in an English newspaper."

Should the player transfer, AS wrote that Karim Benzema would have to give way for the Argentine player to have a key goal scoring position. Aguero scored 26 goals in the recently concluded season of the English Premier League while the French striker only got 15 goals in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague thinks that Madrid would not make a move for Aguero.

"The story of every summer with Real Madrid is they try to maintain the business model that has worked, which is to try to get a Galactico every year," said Balague to Sky Sports. "There aren't many players that people would be excited about. Kun Aguero is certainly one of those and I think the media are responding to that."

Instead, the football pundit maintained that Madrid's plan is to sign Rafael Benitez as coach and acquire Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Aguero has made great strides with Manchester City. His unforgettable goal during the 2012 Premier League finals earned his team the much-coveted title. Back in August, the striker assured his fans that he has no plans of transferring, when he signed a five-year deal with the team.

He told the club's official website, "The reality seems to be that ever since I came here, during every close season, there have always been rumours suggesting that I might be returning to Spain. There has always been this speculation but I certainly never pay much attention to it. People hear this stuff flying around and they take it seriously but I can tell the fans and everyone at City to relax. I'm going to be here until I see out my contract."
