According to Consumer Reports, the iPhone 5 outperforms all other iPhones.

But is it that better than the iPhone 4S when it comes to pictures and videos?

iPhone 5 users have been complaining about "a purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture."

On Sunday, Apple said that the problem is not limited to just the iPhone 5, and can occur in every generation of the iPhone.

"This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor," Apple said on its support page.

Apple technicians suggest moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.

Consumer Reports tests did find that contrary to Apple's claims, iPhone 5's low-light and flash shots to be notably better than those from the iPhone 4S.

However, Consumer Reports did note that iPhone 5's camera proved capable of capturing beautifully sharp and vibrant photos and the iPhone 5's 8-megapixel camera is the best seen on a smart phone.

The biggest difference - problem areas - users will notice is the iPhone 5's new charging port.

The iPhone 5 features the new Lightning connector that is "smaller, smarter and more durable than the previous connector." The all-digital Lightning connector is reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. All other Apple devices feature a 30-pin connector. To have the new iPhone be compatible with other Apple devices,  users will have to buy a $30 convertor to connect previous iOS accessories. The iPhone 5 features an A6 processor, which is faster than the 4S' A5 processor. Both phones are available over AT&T, Sprint and Verizon's networks.

The iPhone 5 comes with a taller screen - 4.87 inches - compared with the $s" 4.5 inches. The iPhone 5 is also lighter, weighing just 3.95 ounces to the 4S' 4.9 ounces. The 5 features a 4-inch retina display while the 4S has a 3.5-inch retina dispaly. The new iPhone is clearer with a 1134 X 640 resolution. The iPhone 4S has a 960 X 640 resolution.

The iPhone 5 features up to 8 hours on 3G and up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi compared to up to 6 hours on 3G and up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi on the 4S.

The iPhone 5 costs, at its lowest, $199 with a two year contract. The iPhone 4S has dropped to $99 with a contract.

Apple said it sold over five million of the iPhone 5 in just three days after it went on sale.
